According to a report by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency on the 4th, Iran will hold indirect negotiations with the United States in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on the 6th.

The report states that the negotiations will be led by Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi and U.S. Special Envoy Wittekov, each leading their respective delegations. The talks will focus on Iran’s nuclear issue, including the lifting of U.S. sanctions on Iran.

By 2025, under Omani mediation, Iran and the U.S. have held multiple rounds of indirect negotiations, but key disagreements remain unresolved. The U.S. demands that Iran completely abandon uranium enrichment, while Iran emphasizes its right to peaceful nuclear energy. In June last year, Israel’s raid on Iran triggered a “12-day war” between the two sides, during which the U.S. bombed key Iranian nuclear facilities. Since then, U.S.-Iran negotiations have been suspended.

The U.S. government has recently continued to issue military threats against Iran and has increased military forces around Iran, demanding that Iran quickly negotiate with the U.S. and reach an agreement.
