Vitalik: Opposes excessive copying of EVM chains and calls for truly innovative Layer 2 projects
Deep Tide TechFlow News, February 5th: Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin recently published a post criticizing the current trend of excessive copying of EVM chains in the blockchain industry, stating that this practice “stifles innovation and leads the industry into a dead end.” He emphasized that developers should build projects that bring substantial innovation, such as enhancing privacy, application-specific efficiency, or ultra-low latency, rather than simply copying existing technology and adding optimistic bridges.
Vitalik also pointed out that the level of integration between projects and Ethereum should be well-deserved, and proposed two valuable application chain architectures: one is application chains that deeply rely on Ethereum to maximize interoperability with other Ethereum applications; the other is institutional L2s that achieve algorithm transparency through on-chain Merkle roots and zero-knowledge proofs.
“Do something that truly brings new value to the ecosystem, making promotion consistent with substance,” Vitalik summarized.
