New trade protectionist measures have been implemented by the Vietnamese government through the Ministry of Industry. Starting February 13, the temporary anti-dumping duties on colorless float glass imports from Indonesia and Malaysia will take effect, with a validity period of 120 days. This decision reflects Vietnam’s commitment to maintaining the stability of its domestic glass industry from what is considered unfair competition.

Protection Mechanism and Implementation Period

According to a report from Jin10, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry officially announced that these temporary anti-dumping tariffs would begin to apply as of yesterday evening. The 120-day period is considered sufficient to further investigate practices of unfair pricing that harm local producers. This policy is specifically targeted at colorless float glass, which is a key component in various regional manufacturing industries.

Domestic Industry Protection and Market Balance

The main goal of implementing these anti-dumping duties is to protect Vietnam’s domestic glass industry from unfair pricing practices. By imposing temporary tariffs, the government aims to stabilize market conditions and ensure that local producers can compete healthily. This move also aligns with regional efforts to maintain trade balance and support sustainable growth of the manufacturing industry in Southeast Asia.
