The 162nd China-Laos-Myanmar-Thailand Mekong River Joint Patrol and Law Enforcement Operation Successfully Concludes
At approximately 10:30 on February 13th, the 162nd joint patrol and law enforcement operation of the Mekong River involving China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand was successfully completed. The three Chinese law enforcement vessels, 53106, 53107, and 53108, smoothly docked at Jingha Police Wharf in Xishuangbanna. The law enforcement vessels and personnel from Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand have safely returned to their respective countries. This operation lasted five days and four nights, covering a total distance of over 700 kilometers. Law enforcement personnel from China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand, totaling 101 people, participated, deploying five law enforcement vessels. The operation was organized through joint patrols along the entire route and segmented cruising. Currently, it is the peak shipping season on the Mekong River, and the river is in its low water period. In response to the severe and complex criminal activities in the Mekong River basin and the frequent navigation accidents such as stranded and grounded ships, the joint patrol team focused on high-risk waters such as Ban Xang Khao, Xang La, and the estuary of the Khae Luang River, conducting joint water-land inspections and public awareness activities. They checked and reminded over 50 passing ships and more than 200 personnel, inspected over 5,000 tons of cargo, rescued one distressed merchant ship, effectively maintaining safety and order in the basin.
