Alibaba Qianwen wins the First Prize of Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award!

Today, the 2024 Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Award was announced, and “Key Technologies and Large-Scale Application of Qianwen Open-Source Large Model” was awarded the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in Zhejiang Province.

Academicians and experts highly praise the Qianwen open-source large model:

This achievement reaches an internationally leading level in areas such as training data management and value insight systems, reinforcement learning algorithms based on group sequence strategy optimization, and efficient chunked training for long contexts. It has achieved world-class results in multiple authoritative international evaluations of large models; the developed Qwen open-source model series has become one of the most influential open-source large models globally, making core contributions to China’s large model development. Its large-scale application has promoted the prosperity and development of China’s artificial intelligence industry ecosystem.

Since 2023, Qianwen has open-sourced over 400 “multimodal, multi-size” models, with the number of derivative models exceeding 200,000, becoming the world’s first open-source large model to achieve this goal; additionally, the model has been downloaded over 1 billion times, averaging 1.1 million downloads per day, making it the top open-source model worldwide. To date, related papers and technical reports on Qianwen have been cited over ten thousand times.

The Qianwen large model has gained recognition from the global tech community and industry, serving as the world’s preferred foundational large model for AI technological innovation and industry implementation, with over 1 million enterprise users.

Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Award

The Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Award aims to reward units and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to scientific and technological innovation and the promotion and application of achievements, with evaluations conducted annually. Alibaba Cloud has won the Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology First Prize for the 10th time, having previously received this honor for big data computing platforms, cloud databases, cloud networks, and Shadowless Cloud Computers.
