Tech News Home 2/14: Technology media MacRumors published a blog yesterday previewing Apple’s expected smart home product releases this year.

IT Home’s key preview points are as follows:

1. HomePod mini 2:

Apple is expected to launch a new generation of the HomePod mini 2 at any time. The appearance of the new product will not change much, but there may be new color options.

In terms of specifications, the HomePod mini 2 is expected to feature the S10 SiP chip, the same as the Apple Watch Series 10, potentially offering better sound quality and more advanced real-time audio processing. It is also expected to upgrade to Bluetooth 5.3, include the second-generation ultra-wideband (UWB) chip, and be priced the same as the first generation at $99 (IT Home note: approximately 684.6 RMB at current exchange rates).

2. HomeHub Central Hub:

This product is positioned as a smart home central hub, supporting calls, music playback, weather checks, Siri, photo browsing, and family calendar functions.

In terms of specs, this product is expected to feature the A18 chip, support Apple’s smart home ecosystem, and run first-party apps such as Safari, Apple Music, Notes, Calendar, Photos, and Apple News. It will not have a standalone App Store.

Additionally, the device will include a human presence sensor to detect if someone is in the room; built-in Face ID to recognize speakers and present personalized apps and interfaces for different users.

Furthermore, this product is expected to have two versions: one that can be wall-mounted, and another that resembles a HomePod mini with an iPad inserted into it.

3. Security Cameras and Smart Doorbells:

It is reported that Apple is designing indoor security cameras that can connect to HomeKit and work with the HomeHub central device. The company may also develop Face ID-enabled smart doorbells that can work with smart locks. These are expected to support HomeKit Secure Video end-to-end encryption and could be announced as early as this year.

4. Release Dates:

HomePod mini 2 and Home Hub: expected to be released in early 2026, possibly before WWDC.

Camera products: If released in 2026, expected at the end of the year.
