IT House February 9 News, Google’s official latest update documentation requires all new Google Voice phone service users to complete identity verification before sending or receiving messages and making calls.

For reference, Google Voice is a VoIP service launched by Google for markets such as the United States and Canada, offering free virtual phone numbers that allow users to manage calls, messages, and voicemails across their mobile phones and computers. This service has been exploited by black and gray industries in recent years, so Google has been strengthening number usage management.

The official states that currently all new Google Voice users need to prepare government-issued identification documents (IT House note: Real ID, passport, etc.) during registration. By default, an automated review process will be used, but it may be transferred to manual verification. The verification process may take up to three business days. If verification fails, users must resubmit their documents; multiple failures will prevent further submissions, and the associated number will become unusable.

At the same time, Google’s official reason for implementing real-name registration is mainly to improve service, prevent fraud and abuse, and ensure that all users can enjoy a secure experience while meeting regulatory standards.
