Airbus's 2025 performance shines: double growth in orders and deliveries, with goals set even higher for 2026
Airbus recently announced its financial performance for 2025 and business outlook for 2026. The data shows that the aerospace giant achieved significant growth across its three main business segments: commercial aircraft, helicopters, and defense and space, with total consolidated revenue reaching €73.4 billion, a 6% increase from the previous year.
In the commercial aircraft sector, Airbus secured 1,000 new orders in 2025, with a net order volume of 889 aircraft, a notable increase from 826 in 2024. By the end of the year, order backlog rose to a record high of 8,754 aircraft. In terms of deliveries, the company delivered 793 commercial aircraft to customers, including 93 A220s, 607 A320 family, 36 A330s, and 57 A350s. Notably, the A320 family, as the flagship model, accounted for 76.5% of total commercial aircraft deliveries.
The helicopter business also performed strongly, with a net order volume of 536 aircraft, up 19% from 450 in 2024. This segment achieved an order-to-delivery ratio greater than 1, indicating that new orders exceeded deliveries, laying a foundation for future revenue growth. The defense and space segment set a new order record of €17.7 billion, with an order-to-delivery ratio maintained at a high level of 1.3, reflecting sustained market demand for expansion in this field.
For 2026, Airbus has set more ambitious targets: approximately 870 commercial aircraft deliveries, a 9.7% increase from 2025; an adjusted EBIT target of €7.5 billion, maintaining a double-digit growth outlook; and a free cash flow before customer financing of €4.5 billion, demonstrating ongoing operational efficiency improvements. These targets reflect management’s confidence in the global aviation market recovery and strategic plans to boost profitability through increased capacity and cost control.
