Hong Kong cryptocurrency company employee arrested for allegedly stealing 2.67 million USDT from clients
Mars Finance reports that Hong Kong police have arrested an employee of a cryptocurrency trading platform. The employee is suspected of stealing a total of 2.67 million USDT from approximately 20 customers, worth about HKD 20.87 million. The arrestee is a 34-year-old network engineer named Cai, who has worked at the company for four years and is mainly responsible for managing mobile applications. The company began receiving reports of missing funds from customers in early January. An investigation revealed that the employee had logged into the company’s database and viewed relevant customer accounts. The incident occurred at an investment firm providing cryptocurrency settlement services located at South Tower, Kornhill Plaza, 9 Science Museum Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. The case has been handed over to the Yau Tsim District Crime Squad, Unit 9, for further investigation.
