Trump Sends Harsh Message to Fed Chairman Powell: “Lower Interest Rates Immediately!”

US President Donald Trump has once again intensified his criticism of the Federal Reserve's interest rate policy. Trump said that Fed Chairman Jerome Powell should immediately lower interest rates without waiting for the next monetary policy meeting.
Making a statement on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump once again repeated the nickname "Too Late" that he uses in his criticisms of Powell. In his post, Trump said, "Where is Fed Chairman Jerome 'Too Late' Powell? He should lower interest rates immediately, not wait for the next meeting."
Fed Had Kept Interest Rates Unchanged
The US Federal Reserve kept its policy interest rate unchanged at 3.5% - 3.75% at the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting held on January 27-28. Markets are now focused on the next FOMC meeting to be held on March 17-18. Constant Pressure from Trump
Since taking office, Trump has frequently called on the Fed administration to cut interest rates. While the chairman argues that low interest rates will support economic growth, Powell states that a cautious monetary policy is needed due to inflation risks. Economists say that this tension between the White House and the Fed has brought the debate about the central bank's independence back to the forefront.

Thank you for sharing! Your insights about Trump pressuring the Federal Reserve to "cut rates immediately" in March 2026 are very enlightening to me. Especially against the backdrop of the Iran conflict driving up oil prices and increasing inflation risks, this fierce contest between "political pressure" and "economic data" makes me think that market trading logic is shifting from "expectations of rate cuts" to "worries about stagflation," and Powell's "holding steady" may be precisely the last line of defense to protect the Fed's century-old independence.
