Gate News, March 15 - According to a Financial Times report on March 16, Trump warned that if U.S. allies do not support reopening the Strait of Hormuz (global oil shipping route), NATO will face a "very bad" future. Trump said: "Those who benefit from the Strait should help ensure that nothing bad happens. Europe is very dependent on oil from the Gulf region, while the U.S. is not. Without a response, or a negative response, I think that would be very bad for NATO's future." When asked what kind of support is necessary, Trump replied "whatever help is needed," and added that allies should deploy minesweepers (Europe has more minesweepers than the U.S.), as well as special forces or other military units to eliminate Iranian personnel using drones and naval mines causing "trouble" in the Gulf. Trump also warned that the U.S. is prepared to conduct new attacks on Iran's oil export center, Khark Island, and may target Iran's oil infrastructure facilities.
