The analytical platform Arkham Intelligence has identified Satoshi Nakamoto’s wallet on the blockchain by analyzing his financial assets since the creation of Bitcoin. The research shows that the addresses associated with the cryptocurrency’s creator hold nearly 1.1 million BTC — an amount currently valued at over $73 billion.

The platform published the data using a methodology known as the “Patoshi pattern” — a unique pattern that researcher Sergio Demian Lerner discovered in 2013 while analyzing blocks mined in the early stages of the network’s development. Thanks to this scientific approach, Arkham Intelligence specialists were able to trace 22,000 addresses belonging to the Bitcoin founder and construct a complete picture of his cryptographic portfolio.

Satoshi would be the 14th richest person on the planet

According to Arkham’s estimates, Satoshi Nakamoto’s wallet contains 5.22% of all Bitcoins in circulation — a huge share considering the total volume of cryptocurrency. When converted to dollars, Satoshi’s wealth would place him 14th in Forbes’ billionaire rankings, surpassing well-known entrepreneurs like Michael Dell (founder of Dell Technologies), Bill Gates, and Michael Bloomberg.

However, there is an important nuance: Satoshi’s presumed wealth will remain inaccessible. The last recorded transfer of funds from these addresses occurred in July 2010, over 15 years ago, when Bitcoin had virtually no value. Since then, no movements in the accounts have been observed, leading to the assumption that either the creator lost access to the private keys or consciously chose to leave these funds in storage.

From 10 BTC to Hal Finney: the creator’s first transactions

Arkham’s data archive revealed exactly 13 transactions conducted by Satoshi during the active period between January 12, 2009, and July 23, 2010. The first and most famous of these is the sending of 10 Bitcoins to Hal Finney, a well-known cryptographic systems developer who later became one of Bitcoin’s key contributors.

The second transaction was also directed to a developer — this time to Mike Hearn, another Bitcoin pioneer. The third payment was significantly larger: 500 BTC were transferred to an anonymous address, demonstrating the experimental nature of early operations on the network.

These few transactions remain the only known trace of Satoshi Nakamoto’s direct actions on the network. Despite numerous theories about the possible movement of other Bitcoins to new addresses, no researcher has yet provided convincing evidence of such activity. The identity of the creator remains one of the greatest mysteries in cryptography and financial technology.
