Reddit accuses Anthropic of scraping its platform content without permission to train the Claude model.

Gate News bot message, Reddit has filed a lawsuit against the artificial intelligence company Anthropic in a U.S. federal court on Wednesday, accusing the company of copying its platform content without permission and using it to train its Claude AI model.

Reddit accused Anthropic of violating Reddit’s user agreement and continuing to access Reddit’s servers, including over 100,000 accesses after publicly announcing to stop such activities in July 2024.

Reddit is seeking damages and compensation, and is asking the court to order Anthropic to refrain from using any data from Reddit in its products, including prohibiting the company from profiting from any artificial intelligence programs trained on Reddit content.
