Silicon Valley's renowned venture capital firm A16z is reportedly raising a new $10 billion fund, focusing on investing in mature companies, AI, and the defense sector.

The Financial Times reports that the well-known Silicon Valley venture capital firm a16z is currently planning to raise approximately $10 billion for a new fund. This funding will be roughly divided into the following major areas: about $6 billion will be allocated to mature companies (growth/late-stage), $1.5 billion will be used for AI applications and AI infrastructure respectively. More than $1 billion will focus on its American Dynamism defense and manufacturing sector fund. If fully raised, it will set a new historical high for the company.

a16z invests $1.5 billion in AI applications and infrastructure

a16z is allocating approximately $1.5 billion in this round specifically to two funds: one focusing on AI applications ( which are software/services layers centered around AI ), and the other emphasizing AI infrastructure ( such as models, computing power, training platforms, etc. ).

In terms of application, a16z has already actively laid out generative AI, professional AI tools, and vertical AI applications. According to tracker data, its investment targets include OpenAI, Cursor, Mistral AI, Thinking Machines Lab, and others.

At the infrastructure level, a16z is also present: from training models, large computing infrastructure, to AI hardware and computing power ecosystems, there are layouts. Including Databricks, Groq, etc.
