Veteran Investor Peter Schiff Challenges Former Binance CEO CZ For Tokenized Gold Vs. Bitcoin Debate

  • Gold expert Peter Schiff challenged former Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao for a debate pitting tokenized gold against Bitcoin.
  • CZ accepted and invited Schiff to the Binance Blockchain Week in Dubai in early December for the debate.
  • A poll favored Tesla CEO Elon Musk and podcaster Joe Rogan as hosts for the event.

Former Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao’s recent pardon from US President Donald Trump has garnered mixed reactions from the public. A majority of the crypto community welcomed the move as they believe it reinforced the administration’s friendlier regulatory climate toward crypto. However, the other half, particularly members of the Democratic Party, criticized the decision while alleging collusion between Binance and Trump family-controlled businesses.

Schiff Challenges CZ for a Debate on Tokenized Gold vs. Bitcoin

Veteran gold trader Peter Schiff, riding on the attention that the pardon has been generating from social media circles, has specifically called out CZ for a debate. The topic would center on Bitcoin (BTC) versus tokenized gold. It would focus on which asset best satisfies the “conditions of money,” including being a medium of exchange, a unit of account, and a store of value.

This is despite many other crypto personalities like Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor and Professional Capital Management CEO Anthony Pompliano being more than willing to promote the asset.

CZ Accepts Schiff’s Proposal

CZ, amid the elation behind his pardon, has accepted Schiff’s challenge. Additionally, he invited the gold trader to the Binance Blockchain Week in Dubai in early December for the debate.

The former Binance boss humbly said that he “might lose the debate,” which could generate more publicity for Schiff’s new tokenization company. But then again, someone told him that “it’s not the time to be a loser,” and he must stand for BTC, to which CZ replied that he will try his best.

Several platforms, like Watcher Guru, suggested hosting the debate on X spaces. Nonetheless, Schiff and CZ have yet to agree on the venue.

Furthermore, Schiff ran a poll via a post on X, asking the public who they think is best suited to moderate his debate with CZ. The options included Tesla CEO Elon Musk, podcaster Joe Rogan, political commentator Tucker Carlson, and podcaster Russell Brand.

Of the over 54K respondents, 40.5% favored Musk for the task. Rogan closely followed in the tally at 39.2%. It remains to be seen, though, if the Tesla CEO can squeeze some of his time into the event, and Rogan has yet to accept the public’s input.

People notably ruled out Tucker for his inherent bias against Bitcoin after alleging that it’s a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) project.
