European Central Bank board member Kazakhs calls for negotiations between the European Union and the United States on trade issues

On February 11th, European Central Bank committee member and Latvian Central Bank Governor Kazaks called for negotiations between the European Union and the United States on trade issues. In an interview with LTV on Tuesday, he said, ‘Negotiations always help find less painful solutions. Europe must stand united and negotiate with the United States to reduce the pain caused by tariffs.’ Kazaks said that tariffs are used not only for economic purposes but also for political purposes. ‘If any response is to be made, it certainly does not need to escalate. The United States is our strategic partner, so this cooperation must be maintained.’
