  • In response to the recent fire in Hong Kong, Bitget donates 1.54 million USD.
  • The aim of the fund is to provide comprehensive support to the affected families as well as to promote the rebuilding of the community.

The article is a reaction to one of the deadliest apartment fires in Hong Kong in decades, after a major blaze struck several high-rise buildings in the Wang Fuk Court housing estate on November 26. At least 94 people lost their lives, more than 70 were injured, and over 900 residents had to move into emergency shelters.

Due to the incident, authorities have initiated criminal investigations and inquiries into corruption regarding the renovation work and the safety of the materials used on site, while emergency teams continue to carry out search, rescue, and recovery operations and search for families of missing relatives.

To ensure that aid reaches those in need in a structured and responsible manner, Bitget has commissioned three of Hong Kong's most trusted charities to carry out the donation of 12,000,000 HKD (, approximately 1.54 million $).

The Yan Chai Hospital receives 5,000,000 HKD (640.000 $) to support rescue services, treat the injured, and rehabilitate affected families. The Salvation Army Hong Kong receives 3,500,000 HKD (ca. 450,000 $) to provide financial support, temporary housing, basic necessities, and livelihood assistance to households that have lost their homes and income.

Po Leung Kuk receives 3,500,000 HKD ( approximately 450,000 $) for providing psychological counseling, community service, and long-term case management for survivors, bereaved individuals, and vulnerable residents in the area.

The relief fund is structured so that every dollar is used transparently, promptly, and purposefully, complementing the emergency measures of the Hong Kong government, the provision of emergency shelters, and the ongoing inspections of residential buildings that are currently being repaired. Through medical assistance, financial support, psychological care, and on-the-ground charitable work, partner organizations help families cope with the immediate aftermath of the disaster and embark on the long road to recovery.

Bitget stands by Hong Kong during this difficult time and expresses its condolences to all those who lost relatives in the fire at Wang Fuk Court. We hope that the affected residents can rebuild their homes and communities as quickly and safely as possible.
